Just write

- A stream of consciousness Day 1

Just write he said. Just type or hand write something, anything. Just begin. Don’t expect it to be great or even good. Aim for bad, write bad stuff. Get it out and onto the page. Then do it again tomorrow and the next day. Until you begin to find something else, a shift in thought, a change in speech, perhaps even a different perspective. Maybe a month, maybe two months down the line you’ll move to good, but don’t expect it. Play the long game, make mistakes and learn from them. Continue. Don’t think about how you’ll make money from it, or how you’ll promote it. You won’t need to if its good or great. You need to focus on writing, developing your craft, getting better. Nobody is born to write. No matter what people like to tell you, nobody is born a writer, an entrepreneur, or a sport star. Despite what people tell themselves in order to feel better about failing, it takes time, work and education to improve. You are not an overnight success, in fact nobody is. The media may portray a young sensation of music sport, but the reality of endless hours of practice growing up is not an exciting one. Watch and believe media at your peril. In fact just stop. Stop your social media, your endless wasted hours of Netflix and start writing. Stop procrastinating. Nobody is going to do it for you, nobody is going to help you. Make yourself uncomfortable. Shut out distraction, reduce the noise, the clutter, the bullshit excuses preventing you from becoming a better writer, artist, sports player. You have the power to change, fake it until you begin to act like the person you want to be. Your mind is all that is stopping you. There is no wall to climb, no barrier to surpass, no troll under the bridge, no beast to succumb. The problem is you, your voice scared to proceed, to try. In fact even when you are “trying” you are not, your little voice is just trying to placate you. Showing you that when you fail at this pathetic attempt of trying that you are better just being comfortable. Comfort is what has almost killed you. It is your enemy, that is your foe. When you feel anxious, scared, uncomfortable then you are in the right place. You won’t change overnight mind, you need to be patient and work little by little. You will fail. This is a given, it is not pessimism, but bare fucking fact. But don’t get caught up on failure, looking stupid, being different, trying something new and fucking it up. Anyone that laughs hasn’t tried because they are scared. You are a danger to them. The more times you fail the more you will learn what doesn’t work, once you know what doesn’t work then figuring out what will succeed is easier. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, again. It is not rocket science if you take it one day at a time. Any successful person did not get there overnight, in a year or even in 5 years. Be prepared to sit back and enjoy the ride. Play the long game, experiment along the way, not recklessly, but considered.
